The Newbury Spring Festival will take place from May 11 to May 25, 2024. It is a vibrant blend of classical, jazz, folk, and chamber music that attracts music lovers from all over the UK annually.
Highlights of the Newbury Spring Festival 2024
Concerts will be held at St. Nicholas Church, including performances by the London Mozartists (Saturday, May 11) and the London Philharmonic Orchestra (Saturday, May 18). The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will close the festival with performances of Sibelius's symphonies and Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder.
There will also be a chamber music series featuring Ukrainian pianist Vadim Kholodenko, the Calefax Reed Quintet, Kinsky Trio Prague, and the Takács Quartet.
At one of the UK's leading classical music festivals, performers will include Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Cordelia Williams, Manu Brazo and Bryan Evans, as well as Catrin Finch and Aoife Ní Bhriain.
A tribute concert to Dizzy Gillespie organized by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra will take place at the Newbury Corn Exchange, along with performances by the Mugenkyo Taiko drummers, folk group Kabantu (Wednesday, May 15), and performers of Indian classical music. Tim Kliphuis Trio will wrap up the musical program at the Corn Exchange, presenting the program "Django Meets Mussorgsky".
The festival will offer plenty of entertainment for children, including seafaring adventures with jolly pirates or a chance to see the world through the eyes of tiny Thumbelina.
